SC Votes to Take the Confederate Flag Down, But Will They Drop Bree Newsome’s Charges?

Bree-Newsome-2

South Carolina lawmakers have finally voted to remove the confederate flag from their capital. This is great news, but I can’t help but feel underwhelmed because it is just common sense to me. To be honest, I am trying to understand why the confederate flag hasn’t been banned nationally altogether. This is not a states’ issue; it is an issue that permeates across this nation. Why hasn’t a treacherous battle flag that evokes trauma for black people been banned ages ago? I guess that’s a dumb question with a simple answer: because racism. It is an American tradition. The fact that we have to even discuss what this flag represents disgusts me and I do not have time for it. If people refuse to even get past the simple truth that the confederate flag represents concentrated white supremacy, then how are we going to discuss the foundational errors of this country? How will we reach that point reasonably? But kudos, to South Carolina for taking the flag down – but only to an extent. I’m Sorry It Had to Be You My Black King: Dr. Huxtable Has Been Proven Guilty

Bill-Cosby-620x480

We live in a world where women are conniving and obsessed with being pitied. We can’t help but conjure up lies of assault  due to our varied insecurities and our obsession with attention. Another thing both black and white women especially cannot stand is the idea of a rich and powerful brother in his winter years with a scot-free track record. That doesn’t make sense to us. White people were itching for vengeance after he attempted to purchase NBC back in the 90s and enlisted us to do their dirty work. Or so we thought, because that theory made way more sense than Cliff Huxtable actually being a rapist.

The Barbecue Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Serena rolled her would-be engagement ring between her knuckles and palm. She examined the single round-cut diamond and gold band. I don’t know much about karats, she wondered to herself, but this is gorgeous. As soon as she heard Silas turn the shower off she dashed over to his suitcase and put the ring back in its box. On the night of the barbecue while Silas slept, Serena searched through his luggage for the ring. It wasn’t very well hidden which made Serena feel bad for looking because it meant he trusted her enough to know she wouldn’t do what she was doing. But Serena needed answers; it had been two days since the failed family gathering and Silas only kept to himself. Nothing she did was enough to get through to him; his ego was in deep recovery. I understand, Serena thought. But to cut me out like this is cruel. My parents are divorcing and he hasn’t even comforted me. Is that someone I want to spend the rest of my life with? So what if Daddy hurt his feelings? She grew angrier by the minute with these thoughts running through her head and unzipped Silas’ suitcase to take out the ring.
